Intestinal microbes between health and disease

God Almighty created microbiota in order to exist and multiply in all human body systems, and most of them are found in the small intestine, by about a trillion microbes, and their presence in the digestive system is 29%, followed by the mouth 26%, then the skin 21%, and the people Aerobic system 14%, and reproductive system 9%.

The benefits of beneficial microbes

Microbes play an important role in the body, especially the beneficial ones, for example:

It protects humans from digestive diseases and many chronic diseases.

It protects the immune system from changes arising from some environmental factors that may lead to autoimmune diseases.

It helps in secreting peptide hormones, which have an important role in the human body.

Helps synthesize vitamin K, folic acid and vitamin B12.

The production of short fats that may help protect against some diseases.

But the problem lies, when these beneficial bacteria turn into harmful, and this is due to several reasons, including what is environmental or genetic. And all the medical and Walalmah evidence confirms that the stomach malady house, and publicly mention in this regard, the Hadith Sharif, “what filled the vessel worse than the belly, according to the son of Adam cuisine Iqmn crucifixion it was inevitably one third of the food and one-third of his drink and a third for himself.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and horses . And also what the Arab physician Al-Harith bin Kelda said, “The stomach is the home of disease and diet is the head of medicine,” and the famous doctor Plato said, “All diseases that affect humans have their origin in the intestine,” which indicates the role of microbial microbes in the intestine in protecting against or the emergence and emergence of diseases.

Turn beneficial microbes into harmful

– Genetic predisposition: Studies have shown that the genetic factor is one of the basic factors for the emergence of many chronic diseases, as it changes the genetic makeup of these beneficial microbes and turns them into harmful microbes.

Natural childbirth: It is considered better than cesarean section in strengthening the beneficial microbes and protecting them in the future.

– The environment surrounding the child: the biological environment is different from the polluted environment.

Breastfeeding: Studies have shown that breastfeeding has a great role in promoting beneficial microbes and reducing harmful microbes not only during the breastfeeding period, but also throughout the child’s future life.

The use of antibiotics: reduces beneficial microbes and increases harmful microbes.

– The health of the mother during pregnancy: the mother who is overweight before or during pregnancy, this changes the microbes of the fetus, which is inside the mother’s womb, from beneficial to harmful.

Hospitalization of the child: children who stay in the hospital have much less beneficial microbes than children who do not stay in the hospital.

Healthy food: A healthy diet rich in fiber has a role in protecting humans from diseases, because it enhances the beneficial microbes and reduces harmful microbes, unlike eating rich in calories and fats.

Chronic disease: reduces beneficial microbes.

Old age: reduces the beneficial microbes and increases the harmful microbes. Thus, when a person ages, he is exposed to more diseases, especially, God forbid, cancers, allergies, obesity and diabetes.

Sports: has a great role in preserving beneficial microbes and not turning them into harmful microbes.

Recent studies have shown that the human body and intestinal microbes have beneficial interactions with harmful microbes, meaning that the human digestive system contains beneficial microbes and harmful microbes. Autoimmune diseases, psychological and behavioral diseases and many other diseases that are believed to have their origin in the digestive system.

Prevention is better than cure

We should realize that prevention is precedent to everything, and it is the way to avoid the occurrence of diseases, and it is important to know that we know the most important methods of prevention, which are:

– The mother before pregnancy must take care of her weight and diet before and during pregnancy, as it plays an important role, as studies have shown, in preserving the beneficial microbes of her fetus.

Natural birth, not cesarean delivery (unless medically necessary).

Breastfeeding, especially during the first 6 – 12 months, or as mentioned in the Qur’an for two full years, but we should note from the sixth month that the mother begins to give the child vegetables and fruits rich in fiber.

Increase the amount of fiber in the meals of children and adults. Natural fibers are rich in many benefits, especially for the digestive system and vital microbes in the digestive system.

Reducing the use of antibiotics except when absolutely necessary, as they reduce beneficial microbes.

Limit meals rich in fat and calories.

Excessive physical activity as it enhances the activity and reproduction of beneficial microbes.

– Eat some stimuli to increase the beneficial gut microbes, which are called probiotics and prebiotics, which help to maintain the composition of the beneficial intestinal microbes, and these nutritional interventions have a promising effect, God willing, in protecting against many chronic diseases.
